Finance Terms of Use
Who provides the service
Finance is an app for keeping track of personal and family finances. It is developed and operated by Serhii Pashchenko, a natural person, Poland, address: 31-356, Poland, email: support@serhiip.dev.
By installing the app or creating an account, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
These terms are effective from 16 September 2026.
What Finance is — and what it is not
Finance helps you keep records: log income and expenses, plan a budget by category, see reports, pull in the statement from a connected bank and break down receipts.
What Finance is not — this part matters:
- We are not a bank and not a payment institution. We do not hold your money, do not open accounts and do not make payments.
- We cannot move your money. Connecting a bank gives us the right only to read your statement and balances. Transferring, paying or charging anything through Finance is impossible — there is no such feature in the app.
- We do not give financial, investment, tax or legal advice. The numbers, categories, «running out soon» forecasts and category suggestions are calculations based on your own data, not a recommendation to buy, sell or invest in anything.
- We are not accounting. Finance's reports are not an accounting or tax document and do not replace a bank statement.
If the data in the app differs from the bank statement, the bank is the one that counts as correct.
What it costs
Right now the app is free: there are no in-app purchases, and we do not collect or process payment data. There is no Apple payment mechanism and no Google payment mechanism in the code.
If paid features ever appear, we will announce this in advance, describe the price and how to cancel separately, and payment will go through the app store under its rules. Refunds in that case are also under the store's rules, not ours.
Please note: the «Subscriptions» section in the app is your own record of subscriptions to third-party services (Netflix, the gym and so on). It has nothing to do with paying for Finance.
Age
You can create an account from the age of 16. If you are younger, use the app only together with a parent or guardian and with their consent — from the adult's account.
We do not verify age and do not ask for a date of birth. If we learn that an account was created by a child below the permitted age, we will delete it.
Account and password
You need an email and a password to sign in. They are your responsibility: do not give your password to anyone and do not use the same password as in other services.
An honest warning that is important to read before you register:
- We do not send emails. At all. The app has neither address confirmation nor password recovery.
- This means: a forgotten password cannot be recovered. You can change your password only if you know the current one. If you have lost your password, the only way is to write to support@serhiip.dev and ask us to delete the account, and then create a new one. The data will not be restored.
- It also means: nobody checks the email address you enter at registration. Do not enter someone else's address.
Save your password in a password manager. This is not a formality — there is no second chance.
Changing your password ends all your active sessions on all devices — this is deliberate.
Your data is your responsibility
You decide what to record in Finance. Please remember:
- Notes on transactions may contain information about other people (who you paid a debt back to, who you paid for). You enter such data at your own responsibility.
- When you import a bank statement, shop names and counterparty names — that is, third-party data — end up in the notes automatically. Everyone in your space sees them.
- We do not keep the statement file you upload for import: it is read into memory, parsed and discarded. It is never written to disk.
- Do not upload anything to Finance that you have no right to, and do not use it for unlawful purposes.
We do not check the content of your records and do not edit them.
Shared (family) spaces
By inviting someone into a shared space, you open ALL of that space's data to them: every transaction with its amount, date, note and author, all accounts and balances, all budgets, subscriptions and receipts with their line-by-line contents, and the email addresses of all members as well. There is no «this expense is mine only» mode in the app.
Before you invite anyone, decide whether you are ready for that kind of transparency. Keep personal spending in your personal space.
What you need to know about rights in a space:
- The owner can delete the whole space. Along with it, the data of all members is deleted, including the records they entered. This cannot be undone, and a member cannot take their data out beforehand.
- Deleting the owner's account is the same as deleting their spaces — with everything in them.
- A member can leave a space themselves. The records they entered stay with the others, along with their name. The name disappears only if they delete their account entirely.
- The owner cannot leave their own space — they can only delete it.
- An invitation code is valid for 7 days. The preview page opens without signing in and shows the name of the space, the name of the person inviting and the address of the person invited, if one was given. Forward the code only to its addressee.
Bank connections and receipts
Connecting a bank is voluntary and always reversible.
- When you connect Monobank, you give us your personal token. We use it only to read accounts, balances and the statement. We store it encrypted. You can revoke this token in the bank itself at any time.
- When you connect a European bank, you sign in on the bank's side through a licensed open banking aggregator. We do not see and do not receive your bank login and password.
- Disconnecting a bank in the app stops requests to the bank, but does NOT delete the accounts and transactions already imported — they remain part of your history. You can delete them manually.
- The accuracy of an import depends on what the bank returned. We are not responsible for incomplete or delayed data on the bank's side.
Receipts:
— By photographing a receipt, you agree that the image will be sent to an external recognition service. Details are in the Privacy Policy.
— Recognition is not perfect. Check the amounts and categories; everything can be corrected manually.
— A category suggestion is a suggestion, not a decision. The final word is always yours.
What you must not do
- Try to get access to other people's spaces, accounts and data.
- Scrape data automatically, put load on the server, circumvent rate limits.
- Crack, decompile or modify the app in order to bypass access checks.
- Impersonate another person.
- Use Finance for money laundering, fraud or any other unlawful activity.
If you break these rules, we may restrict or close access to your account. Where possible, we will warn you in advance and let you take your data out.
Found a vulnerability — write to support@serhiip.dev instead of exploiting it. We will reply and say thank you.
Service availability and backups
We do our best to keep the service running at all times, but we do not promise uninterrupted operation. Finance is a small project, not banking infrastructure: updates, maintenance breaks and failures are possible.
Make backups of important data yourself. You can look at reports and history in the app at any time; if you need an export, write to support@serhiip.dev.
The app keeps a copy of the last 6 months of transactions on your device, so you can look at your history without the internet — but new records reach the server only once you are back online.
Separately: on Android, when the structure of the local database is updated, the cache on the device may be cleared automatically. Your data is not lost in the process — it is downloaded from the server again.
Liability
The app is provided «as is». We do not guarantee that calculations, forecasts and imported data will be free of errors, and we are not responsible for the financial decisions you make looking at those numbers.
We are not responsible for:
— inaccuracies in data received from a bank or from fiscal services;
— receipt recognition errors;
— the actions of other members of your shared space, including deletion of the space by its owner;
— loss of access because of a forgotten password — recovery, as said above, does not exist.
This limitation of liability does not apply to cases of intent and gross negligence on our side, to harm to life and health, or to any rights that cannot be limited by law.
If you are a consumer in the European Union, your rights under the mandatory consumer law of your country remain in full — nothing in these terms cancels or limits them.
Third-party services
Finance works together with external services: hosting, the receipt recognition service, banks and the open banking aggregator, fiscal receipt operators, Poland's state hub for electronic receipts, the National Bank of Ukraine (exchange rates), the Apple and Google app stores, and on iPhone — iCloud.
Each of them has its own terms and its own privacy policy. We are responsible for what we pass to them and for the choice of provider — but not for their internal rules.
The full list of recipients by name is in the Privacy Policy.
Ending your use
You can leave at any moment: sign out, delete the app or delete your account entirely. How to delete your account — including without the app installed — is described on a separate page, «Account deletion».
Deleting the app from your phone does not by itself delete the data on the server.
We may close your access if you seriously break these terms or if your use of the app harms other users or the service.
We may also shut the service down entirely. In that case we will warn you in advance — at least 30 days — and give you the chance to take your data out.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of Poland. Disputes are heard by the courts of Poland.
If you are a consumer living in the European Union, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory rules of your country's law or of the right to go to court at your place of residence.
Before going to court, write to us at support@serhiip.dev — we will try to sort the matter out like human beings.
Changes to these terms
We may change these terms — for example, when new features appear.
We will announce material changes in the app no later than 14 days before they take effect. If you do not agree with the new version, simply stop using the app and delete your account.
The date of the current version is shown at the top of the page.
Contacts
For any question — about the terms, about your account, about an error or about your data — write to support@serhiip.dev.
This is the only official Finance address. We reply in Ukrainian, Russian, Polish and English.
